I was wary of a period mystery costarring a famous figure, but Patrick (actually a married couple, not a solo writer) exceeded all of my expectations and produced a book that is both entertaining and impressively well crafted. Their star is a tough, no-nonsense Hollywood dame, but one who is also three dimensional enough to avoid being... Better than I anticipated. Interesting and colorful characters, fleshed out, as well as glimpses,of Hollywood legends. I tend to like reading books set during the Golden Age of Hollywood and I've always admired Edith Head's talent, so I looked forward to reading Design for Dying.
