While reading this book I somewhat felt like I was reliving my childhood. I could probably relate to Julia the most, since I grew up in the 50's with an alcoholic father. I enjoyed the 1st half of the book, when we were getting to know the characters, but it just fell flat in the second half. I am more of a plot driven reader and I... I loved the writing in this book from the first page. Then I realized it was particular sentences I loved. Here's an example. It's Agnes, the protagonist, thinking: "But what on earth had possessed these people for whom she had been the best parent she could manage to be, for whom she had tried so hard to pretend wisdom, to mime adulthood--oh,... I think I should stop buying books just because the title intrigues me. This title is super awesome though and should peak anyone's interest to pick up the book. Although in my defence with this book I did read the plot synopsis for this book and I thought "This could be interesting.". While I was reading it I had left it out one the...
