This is probably my least favorite tornado book. It was so full of florid prose that it was almost hard to find the tornado. The author used 85 words where she could have used 2. The book itself started with a 4 page discussion of the battlefield at Vicksburg. Um...this book was about the Candlestick tornado and had NOTHING to do with... I learned from this book that it's possible to take a gripping story about a tornado and life & death situations & make it kind of boring. The author spends way too much time reminiscing about her childhood rather than actually providing a coherent narrative of the tornado event.
